2011 Audi A8

The Audi brand began with a man named August Horch. He had to decide a name for his company as Horch was already taken. After discussing with his friends, one of his friend’s son suggested Audi because Audi in Latin was the same as Horch in German. After being unanimously agreed upon, Audi was the new name for the company. Eventually, Audi merged with three different companies (Horch, DKW, Wanderer) to form Auto Union. This merge is the reason of the four rings as the Audi symbol, each ring representing a different company. After being bought out by Volkswagen, Audi was introduced to America in 1970. Despite facing some engineering roadblocks in the beginning, Audi has emerged as a great car brand with a lot of potential.
